Wisconsin’s Natural Wonders: 18 Amazing Waterfalls in Marinette County You Need to See This Summer
This summer, my daughter and I had the chance to return to Marinette County, Wisconsin, and see it again. 

Marinette County is a real gem with the best urban and rural life. As we went down the back roads, we saw ATVs and enjoyed the less crowded tracks. Also, the waterfalls were just a 5 to 15-minute walk from the parking lots, which was a nice touch.

Planning Your Unforgettable Adventure

If you want to take this trip in the summer, you need to plan it out very carefully. We chose to book a spot at Goodman County Park because we had camped there before and liked it. But there are also cabins, national woods, and Thompson State Park, among other places to stay.

Before you leave, make sure you have a map of the waterfalls and a plan for getting around without a signal since the signal can be weak in the area. We found it helpful to take screenshots of the routes at home and share them with ourselves. Also, bring enough food because there are few places to eat. We brought a cooler full of tasty snacks and cooked at our spot. Most trails accept dogs, but it’s essential to check the rules for each one. Remember that some waterfalls may require permits or have limited access and that the water flow can change based on the season and how much rain has fallen recently.

During our trip, we got to see 10 waterfalls in one day. We had seen 12 waterfalls before and wanted to plan a return trip. The waterfalls make this trip fun and exciting for people of all skill levels. But it’s important to plan well, especially when traveling with young children. Remember that hike times vary, but it takes between 5 and 10 minutes to get to each waterfall. Before you start your walk, keep an eye on how the trail is and how hard it is.

Here’s a rough idea of how long it takes to hike to some of the area’s most famous waterfalls:

Long Slide Falls: 10-15 minutes
Five to ten minutes to Smalley Falls
Strong Falls: 10-15 minutes
Eighteen Foot Falls: 10-15 minutes
Five to ten minutes to Twelve Foot Falls
10-15 minutes to Horseshoe Falls
10 to 15 minutes to Dave’s Falls
Miscauno Falls: 10-15 minutes
Five to ten minutes for Four Foot Falls
Bull Falls: 5-10 minutes
Johnson Falls: 15-20 minutes
Rapids Falls: 5-10 minutes
1-2 hours (depending on the path) to get to Pier’s Gorge.
Sturgeon Falls: 5-10 minutes
Twin Falls: 10-15 minutes
Veteran’s Falls: 5-10 minutes
5 to 10 minutes to Wildwood Falls
Granite Rapids: 10-15 minutes

If you have little time, follow our plan, which starts at Goodman County Park. Dave’s Falls is a great place to take a break and get fresh air. It’s also one of my favorite parks. It has a beautiful bridge and is even better if you have a fishing ticket. Plan a lunch with your family at Dave’s Falls to make the trip more fun.

We started our tour around noon. The weather was great all day, with clouds and a cool temperature. Some trails had a few bugs, so I suggest wearing comfortable summer gear like lightweight long-sleeved clothes and, depending on your journey, Keens or waterproof boots. As the seasons change, it’s a great time to see the waterfalls because the northern part of the country cools down quickly. Plan your trip for the end of the summer to get the most out of this fantastic experience.
