Pewit’s Nest State Natural

Pewit’s Nest State Natural Area, located in Sauk County, Wisconsin, USA, is a protected area that encompasses a picturesque gorge created by the melting of the last glacier. This nature reserve is situated near Baraboo and is renowned for its scenic beauty and geological significance.

We began the Hike It Baby 30 challenge today, which marks the final challenge of the year. We planned to explore a hidden gem in Baraboo that we had heard about since spring, but to our surprise, it wasn’t much of a hike to get to the spot. Nonetheless, I was thrilled to arrive since our baby girl wanted to be carried, and the round trip from the parking lot was a mere 0.3 miles (0.9 miles in total). The trail is labeled as moderate, although I found it to be easy, as my toddler was able to run to the trailhead.

This trail is suitable for all skill levels, and I highly recommend it, particularly for those with toddlers. However, I must caution you that a section of the trail is closed due to vandalism by some irresponsible individuals. Please stay on the trail and follow the guidelines to respect nature.
