As an immigrant mama from South Africa, my life changed forever when I took my first step on the mountains of Utah. I still vividly remember that day. Becoming a mom in a new country left me feeling isolated, but that single hike transformed my world. With no one else to talk to, I ventured into the outdoors and found my community.
Each hike introduced me to people passionate about nature, just like me. Their amazing stories and the fulfillment I felt after every trek slowly reshaped my mind and spirit. One hike at a time, I discovered the life I wanted to live – meeting new people daily, exploring new places, and exposing my child to diverse cultures and the great outdoors.
This journey has redefined motherhood for me in ways I never expected growing up. Nature has been my healer, mending childhood traumas and connecting me with incredible individuals. Today, I stand proud of the person I’ve become, all thanks to the transformative power of the outdoors.
