Yoga and Safari Retreat in South Africa
Wake up on the Cape coast. Fall asleep under the African stars. Everything in between is yours.
We’ve taken women to Africa before. Never like this.
This isn’t a trip you push through. It’s the one you’ve been waiting your whole life to say yes to.
Wisconsin Adventure Family has been bringing women to Africa for years. We’ve climbed, trekked, and earned every single view. This retreat is something else entirely. No summits. No 4 a.m. alarms to chase a trail. Nothing to prove to anyone. This is Africa for pleasure, and it was made for the woman who is ready to be taken care of for once.
Picture it. You wake on the Cape Peninsula with the sea close by. You roll out your mat for morning yoga before the day begins. Meals are fresh, plant-forward, and made with real care, the kind of food that leaves you feeling lighter and more alive than when you sat down. Your days unfold slowly: penguins on the beach, Cape Point and the wild edge of the continent, a hands-on Cape Malay cooking class, wine in the Constantia valley, Table Mountain from above, and a private sound and bell healing session that settles something in you that you didn’t know was still tight.
Then the city falls away. A private road journey carries you out of the Cape and into the bush at a private wildlife reserve, where the only schedule is the sun. Game drives with the wild moving all around you. Long, lazy afternoons with nothing to do and nowhere to be. An evening bonfire to close the retreat, and a night sky so full of stars you’ll forget to speak.
If you’ve dreamed of South Africa but never been, this is how you meet her for the first time. Softly. Beautifully. With a small circle of eight women and a host who was born here and knows exactly where to take you.
Eight spots. One week that changes how you see the world, and yourself. If your heart is already saying yes, trust it.
Mountain. Ocean. City. Safari.
Most destinations give you one of these. South Africa gives you all four in a single trip. Wake up near the sea, stand on top of Table Mountain, taste Cape Town’s food and history, then trade the city for the bush and watch giraffe and elephant move past at golden hour.
Table Mountain
Ride the cableway up and stand on top of the city.
The Cape Coast
Penguins on the beach, Cape Point, and sunset on Chapman’s Peak.
Cape Town
Colorful streets, Cape Malay flavors, and stories that shaped a nation.
The Bush
Game drives in a private reserve, with the wild all around you.
“You go to Cape Town to see South Africa. You go on safari to feel it.” This trip gives you both.
Who this retreat is for
This is a bucket-list moment for the woman who has felt Africa calling her for years. The one who craves the red soil, the wild, and the ocean, and knows in her gut it is time to go. You don’t need yoga experience, a certain fitness level, or a certain age. You only need to be ready to answer the call.
The woman who gives everything
Mothers, caregivers, founders, leaders. Women who hold everyone else and rarely get held. This is your turn.
The one in transition
A new decade, an empty nest, a loss, a fresh start. Come and move through it gently, with women who understand.
The solo traveler
Coming alone is welcome and easy here. You’ll be part of a small circle of eight from the first evening.
The one who’s simply tired
No crisis required. If your body has been asking for rest, sun, and wide open sky, that is reason enough.
Seven nights on the Cape, three in the bush
July is South Africa’s cool season, a welcome break from the summer heat you’re leaving behind, and one of the best times of year to be on the Cape. You’ll spend seven nights at a private guesthouse on the Southern Peninsula, with four mornings of yoga, easy pacing, and a mix of sightseeing and rest built around some of the most iconic places on the continent: the penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Point and the Flying Dutchman Funicular, Chapman’s Peak at sunset, Table Mountain by cableway, a wine tasting in the Constantia valley, and a ferry across to Robben Island.
Then the trip changes shape entirely. We leave the Cape behind on a private road journey to a private wildlife reserve in the Western Cape, for three nights of safari. The programme slows right down here on purpose. No scheduled yoga, no extra activities layered on. Join the game drives or sleep in, and spend the rest of your time at your own pace, so you can just be immersed in the experience.
The whole trip builds toward one evening. On your last night in the bush, we close the retreat together around a bonfire, the quiet crescendo after a week of movement, beauty, and wide open sky.
A home by the sea, then a lodge in the bush
A private guesthouse near the ocean
Your Cape Town base is a calm, intimate guesthouse on the Southern Peninsula, close to the sea and away from the city rush. Morning yoga happens right here, dinners are prepared by a private chef, and you come back each afternoon to rest.
A safari lodge in a private wildlife reserve
For the last three nights you trade the coast for the bush. Your lodge sits inside a private reserve, with game drives, wide open views across the veld, and meals and safari activities included.

Meet your host
This is Wisconsin Adventure Family’s first retreat in South Africa, and Dini is leading it personally, start to finish, with local guides joining along the way for yoga, sound healing, and the safari itself.

Dini Dowd
Born and raised in South Africa near the Drakensberg, Dini has spent seven years guiding women across cultures and continents. A soon-to-be certified forest bathing practitioner, she’s bringing you home to the soil she loves.
What you can expect
Four mornings of yoga at the guesthouse, optional and never demanding. Join when your body wants to.
A private sound and bell healing session in Cape Town, and a closing bonfire ceremony on your last night in the bush.
Slow afternoons, a relaxed pace, and three unstructured safari days with no set wake-up time.
Fresh, plant-forward meals, a private vegan food walk, a Cape Malay cooking class, and one seafood dinner to celebrate the coast.
Game drives at a private wildlife reserve, immersed in the bush with expert guides.
A group of just eight women. Shared meals, shared quiet, shared awe. You arrive alone and leave connected.
The heart of the journey
Seven nights on one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines
Boulders Beach penguins, Cape Point and the Flying Dutchman Funicular, a boat cruise from Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak at sunset, Table Mountain by cableway, Constantia wine country, and a ferry to Robben Island. Morning yoga and a private sound and bell healing session thread it all together.
Vegan-forward, with one night to celebrate the coast
A private vegan food walk through Cape Town, a hands-on Cape Malay and Creole cooking class, vegan lunches in the vineyards and at Scarborough, and a seafood dinner at Harbour House in Kalk Bay. Not vegan? Adaptations are always available.

No yoga, no schedule, just the bush
Three nights at a private wildlife reserve. No fixed wake-up time, no activities layered on. Join the game drives when you feel like it, and everything else is yours to rest into.
A bonfire to close it all out
On your last evening in the bush, the whole group gathers around the fire to close the retreat together, followed by a final dinner. The quiet ending after a week of movement, beauty, and wide open sky.

Carry South Africa home with you
Come as you are
You don’t need to be flexible, fit, experienced, or “ready.” You don’t need to have it all together. Every yoga session is optional. You show up when you feel like it, or you rest, and both are fine. This week is here to fill you back up, not to wear you out. Leave the pressure to perform at home. Just bring yourself, exactly as you are, and let Cape Town and the bush do the rest.
How to reach South Africa
Simpler than it sounds. Here’s the path from the U.S.
Please read: Fly into Cape Town International (CPT), arriving no later than 6:00 PM on July 7, 2027, and fly home the evening of July 17, 2027. Everything inside South Africa is by road. Please do not book a route that connects through the Middle East (such as Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi). Airspace in that region can close with little notice, and we don’t want anyone stranded on the way to us.
Book a route that avoids the Middle East
Book a flight that lands at Cape Town International (CPT) no later than 6:00 PM on July 7, 2027, so the whole group can be picked up together. These are the airlines we recommend:
- Delta, our top pick. Nonstop from Atlanta (ATL) straight to Cape Town.
- United, nonstop to Cape Town from Newark (EWR) and Washington Dulles (IAD).
- KLM, a reliable option from Chicago, connecting through Amsterdam.
- Ethiopian Airlines, also reliable, connecting through Addis Ababa so you fly straight into Africa.
Some nonstop routes are seasonal, so please confirm the July schedule when you book. Give yourself room to arrive rested, and we’re always happy to look at a route with you before you buy.
Airport pickup, straight to your first night
A private transfer meets the group at the airport and brings you to the guesthouse for a welcome dinner and rest.
We handle the rest
All ground transfers during the retreat are included, including the private road journey from the Cape to the reserve and back. No extra flights, no connections. You just show up, and we take it from there.
Documents & details
U.S. passport holders currently do not need a visa for tourist stays up to 90 days. Please confirm current requirements before you book. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 30 days beyond your travel dates and has two or more blank pages. South Africa is 7 hours ahead of U.S. Central Time during your July travel dates. Each guest books their own flights, and we’re glad to advise.
